Back to 80's

My recent work that I made for another modeling challenge.
The theme for this challenge is "Classic Cartoon around 80's - 90's". So I pick Looney Tunes and it is Lola Bunny & Bugs Bunny (actually I was gonna make one model and it was Bugs Bunny, and some guy give me an idea if I could make Lola too. Thanks to him that now Bugs Bunny dont have to perform alone. Since booth of them are bunnies, it wouldn't takes time to model).

So I start to brainwash myself with these stuff. Since I'am a fan of Looney Tunes too. So I go to youtube or wherever to find inspiration. I rewatch the old Looney Tunes cartoon and that was sooo fun for me. I also rewatch the Space Jam movie (Lola Bunny is really hot >_<).

Model meshes
Almost everything I did inside Blender 3D
from modeling, sculpting, and also rigging. The goal for the final image is smooth and cheerful colors so detailed texture or model didn't bother me at all. Carlos Ortega's artwork was my biggest inspiration at that time. I know it is too stupid to model these stuff (why dont you just go to google and find the Looney Tunes text, or grab some Warner Brothers logo?) Well I believe if I could model those in 3D, I can get more control of how it will looks like in the final image. As you can see, I also model the circles for the background.. Silly me =))

Base model & sculpted model
When everything's modeled, it's time to setup some lamp and giving a basic material, because it will gives me an idea of how it will looks like when it is textured. Too bad that I can't change the pose, because I save the file overwritten the rigged one T_T. I still have all the backup T pose model that I created though, but doing all the sculpting process again, or setup the lamp/camera again, I dont think that would be a happy time for me. So I move on.

Nodes, Light, Color Harmonies
And render time! After I'm happy with all those textures and lighting stuff, I double check everything just to make sure there is no miss. Because I will render them with Cycles Render which means it will takes time to render. And also I did some color harmonies just to find a good combination between Lola Bunny and Bugs Bunny.

Render passes
I use multiple passes to make the lighting more interesting. And I'm very-very happy that Blender Cycles now support that (dancing happily). There are Diffuse Dirrect, Glossy Dirrect, etc. So with those passes, I can create so many variable lighting effects combined with material ID, and mesh ID as a masking. Yay~

Double The Fun

Double The Fun
Double The Fun was created on my freetime and also to motivate myself.
I'm a fan of Iron Man and I just bought a book 'The Art of Iron Man', so I decided to work on this Mark 17 - Heartbreaker.

The other character was my 1st time studying of hard surface modeling from july 2012 called War Maiden, I’ve spent about more than 3 months for making that one (i'm not sure, maybe more)
the idea was from War Machine in Iron Man II.

I decided to put her into the scene, side by side with the Heartbreaker, so that I can see the different between my old and new character.

Refference taken from the book 'The Art of Iron man- Hearbreaker ' and some hot toys image from google (because the concept from the book is not enough for me.)

I was too scared to think about the legs.. but really, sculpting in Blender helps me to define the shape of the model and then I retopo them using BSurfaces addon.

I did some blocking for the rest of the body just to get a good silhouette.
When everything modelled, time to rig! But wait, this is a mechanical model which means you need to understand the mechanical movement for each parts. I was very-very lazy to think about that, so I decided to use meshdeform, he will only do pose right? Yep!
